How to build a consistent brand across packaging and your website

var(--variable-YVJ32Jw21)

Your packaging and website do different jobs, but they should feel like parts of the same business. A customer moving from a product in their hand to a product page should recognise the brand without encountering an entirely new visual language.

Share the foundations

Establish common principles for typography, colour, imagery and tone. These do not have to be applied identically. A package might use compact typography and a website might need more space for reading. The relationship between elements matters more than copying one layout into every format.

Keep product information connected

Use consistent naming, variant descriptions and product photography. Differences between packaging and online information can create unnecessary uncertainty. Keep a clear process for updating claims, product details and availability, with the appropriate checks for your category and market.

Let each format do its job

Packaging has limited space and may need to communicate quickly. A website can explain context, answer questions and provide supporting information. Avoid forcing all online content onto the pack, or turning the website into a static reproduction of its front panel.

Plan shared assets early

Commission photography and design applications with both uses in mind. Consider how images will crop, how product variants will be displayed and what the team needs to maintain. At Studio Uzi, looking at physical and digital touchpoints together helps create a system that feels coherent without making every interaction look the same.
